Ji Yong should have been able to remove his eyes from Chae Rin, but he couldn’t. Oh, goodness, he tried, but they were glued on her frame. Everything about her was just so captivating. When she rapped, Chae Rin was no longer his dorky nineteen-year-old best friend. Instead, she was a sexy woman, one that could control the whole world with a single word.

And that, really, was a bit too much of the young Ji Yong. He knew that it was stupid to put her in his new solo album - he knew what her rapping did to him - but he couldn’t stop himself. The song was called “The Leaders”, he needed YG’s two other biggest leaders along with him.

“…I’m CL, the one and only baddest female.” Chae Rin smiled, happy with how the take had come out. The past ten times in a row, she had made a mistake on something or other. It was always something stupid, too, like saying “bad ass” female instead of “baddest”. “Bad ass” would have worked just fine, but Chae Rin knew that Ji Yong liked things perfect.

Leaving the small room, she immediately ran into Ji Yong. “How do you think it sounded?” she asked, her words rushed and slurred. “I think that ones I stopped making all those stupid mistakes it sounded good. I like all of the ‘what’s up’ that I had to do. I felt like my voice sounded really cool when I did them. Do you, Oppa?”

Ji Yong couldn’t even think as he stared at her. Stupid, Ji Yong, he thought, say something! But even so, nothing came out. He could barely comprehend what she had just said. Did she sound good? Of course she did; she always did.

“You were great,” he finally managed to say. He smiled at her, trying to hide how awkward and strange he felt. He knew the feeling would go away soon, but while it was there, Ji Yong had no idea how to act around his dongsaeng

“Ji Yong,” Chae Rin said, slightly worried about his spacey-ness, “you all right?”

“Of course,” he said, smiling at her. He was being an idiot. Amazing rapping or not, Chae Rin was still his best friend, the girl he could always turn to.

No matter how much he found himself wanting more.

When Ji Yong listened to the whole track of “The Leaders”, it wasn’t as hard as it had been with Chae Rin around. But at the same time, it was so much worse because it was of their voice together, mingling, intertwining in a way that Ji Yong wanted between the two, in a way that wasn’t just vocals. And he would also like not having Teddy interrupt.

But when Seung Ri and Chae Rin walked into the small room, arms wrapped around each other as they laughed at something that was obviously nothing short of hilarious, Ji Yong wasn’t sure how to react.

Honestly, there was no reason why Chae Rin would like Seung Ri and not Ji Yong. Ji Yong was a composer, a lyricist, an amazing dresser, one of the world’s best rappers, a great guy to be around.

And what was Seung Ri? Did he have any real attributes beyond being a “strong baby”? Nope. That was all the mankae had going for him.

Yet, Ji Yong found himself standing up and pulling the two apart, his arms gripping tightly to Chae Rin’s forearms. “There…there’s something wrong with your part. We need to fix it.” Then, without another word to either of the two, Ji Yong pulled Chae Rin once more to the recording studio.

Once they got there, Ji Yong told her that she had said the last line wrong again.

“It’s bad ass,” he instructed, “that’s what you’re supposed to say.”

“But Oppa,” Chae Rin quickly protested, “I wrote the rap. If I want to say baddest, I can say baddest. My rap. And anyway, what does it matter? They’re close enough that no one will bother caring about it, Ji.”

“Dongsaeng,” Ji Yong spoke, trying to be calm, despite how odd he was feeling. “Just do it again, please. I need to hear it once more.”

Chae Rin sighed heavily before heading back in the studio. She stood in front of the microphone, taking in a few deep breaths. Ji Yong was being some kind of idiot. Sure, Chae Rin knew that he was pretty anal about his music, but the dude just need to calm down a bit.

Before placing the headphones on, Chae Rin put her hair down and shook her head around a few times, trying to get all of her nerves out. She didn’t want to mess up again. She hated disappointing Ji Yong. Since the first time she had met her oppa, she had only wanted him to be proud of her. He was always some kind of her hero, idol, the man of her dreams in so many ways.

Then she began. There were no mistakes, no problems. Everything was perfect as the words rolled off her tongue. Not only that, she was having more fun than she had before. She was rocking out to the strange words that she said. Even when she was done, she continued dancing happily.

Outside of the studio, Ji Yong was having some kind of a heart attack. It was like his body had no idea how to react and his heart simply decided to pound and go crazy, as if his life depended on it. It was strange, odd. He felt as if he was going to die, even as he felt more alive than he ever had.

Once Chae Rin was done, Ji Yong couldn’t even breathe. His body couldn’t move. His mind couldn’t think. Ji Yong was sure he was going to die.

All because Chae Rin was just too good at rapping.

When she came out, she was smiling, happy, almost dancing instead of walking. She was a vision. She was perfect.

Ji Yong felt as if he was going to die.

And would that have been such a bad thing? He had just seen an angel on earth, so he knew there was life after death. Because nothing could be as perfect as her that was real, tangible, mortal.

Suddenly, taken by a fear that somehow she would just be gone, Ji Yong leapt out of his chair and took her into his arms. She felt real. But there was only one way he could honestly be sure.

“Oppa?” she muttered out as he moved closer to her. She had a feeling what he was trying to, but it surprised her. She wasn’t sure how to react. Happiness and fear filled her all at once.

But when he placed his lips on hers, all fear was gone. Fear could not exist where love did. And they definitely had enough of that.

When they finally parted, Ji Yong smiled at Chae Rin.

“CL,” he said, his voice powerful as he tries his best to sound serious and mean, “you messed up on the lyrics again. How many times do I have to tell you?

“It’s ‘we’re skydragon, the one and only baddest couple.’”

Chae Rin chuckled and smiled at Ji Yong, starting to walk back towards the recording studio.

She was going to make it perfect.

Because we all know how much Ji Yong likes his perfection.
