Long Night...

I am currently working a midnight shift at the Youth Home. It is 1:30 in the morning and I just had to tell a mother that her daughter tried to hang herself and is currently at the cares unit at Marquette General Hospital

i've had that conversation before.. that if parents understood the dangers of not listening or even noticing their children, if they saw how easily it could be avoided, all child therapists would be out of job.
how infuriating is that.

What do you even say to that? You absolutely have a point though; however, parents and children often only hear what they want to hear from each other. Maybe this parent had said or had seen this before, what more could he/or she have done. Maybe that’s what makes your job so hard: finding out whose “fault” it really is, and then trying to figure out how to help.
