Long Night...
I am currently working a midnight shift at the Youth Home. It is 1:30 in the morning and I just had to tell a mother that her daughter tried to hang herself and is currently at the cares unit at Marquette General Hospital.....
This is the part of the job that is the hardest. Explaining to the parents the actions that their children take in an attempt to gain some power and control in their lives... if only parents and people in general would listen to these kids prior to these events....
In a perfect world we would work as a society to keep children safe and secure. We would listen to their needs and not write them off. There would be no such thing as a "at risk-youth."
In a perfect world I would be out of a job.
