The Personal Canon meme, because it's that or throttle someone

Not that I'm actually being particularly hard done by at present, just that I don't want to work, and have to, and I'm ready to burst with irritation at it all. So help me take my mind off things by giving me stuff to talk about! You will be doing society a favour.

Give me a name from any of my fandoms, and I will give you three facts from my ( Read more... )

1. Was always a better Elven scholar than Frodo. He hung around the Elves that night on the way out of the Shire when everyone else had gone to sleep mostly to make sure Frodo was getting all the nuances.

2. has always been very fond of Frodo, but was secretly very relieved to see him go. Depressed intellectual heroes aren't easy company, and Rosie was starting to complain. He would rather die than admit this to anyone, however.

3. never eats fish and chips without feeling a brief pang for poor Gollum.

1. is descended from a long line of blue-blooded aristocrats, whom he never sees, as they disowned him for his egalitarian principles. He was christened Augustus Rodney St John, but he changed his name to Alan and got a voice coach to teach him a regional accent in the interests of Equality.

2. secretly hates Ruth and David Archer, but knows he will never have a chance to do anything about this as they lead such tediously blameless lives. He is, however, encouraging Josh to read poetry, knowing that this will create outraged panic among his parents when little stacks of Wordsworth, Keats and Larkin are found under his bed.

3. Doesn't really care about pews at all, one way or the other - he is just stirring for stirring's sake.

Brilliant, especially 2! (and I can see 3, too - anything to make PCC meetings less suicide-inducingly dull!)

1. is not actually very good at hand-to-hand combat, and is terrified that this fact will become more generally known.

2. was an incredibly cute small child. He was much caressed by Elf-women, who cooed over his chubbiness (elflings are rather bony and knobbly) and sweet, funny, rounded little ears.

3. is left-handed.

1. wanted her Animagus form to be a Tigress, and was quite miffed when she turned out to be a tabby cat. Though she is now fine about it - there are much greater possibilities for stealth as a cat, and more chances to play and frolic.

2. never had the slightest sexual interest in Albus Dumbledore - she much prefers a bit of rough. The rougher the better. And she has a strong dislike of all shades of purple.

3. is devoted to her job, but sometimes wonders if she wouldn't have been happier if she'd thrown caution to the winds and taken that offer as a trainee Quidditch player...

1. actually does glow faintly - all this stuff in the poems about "arms of silver glimmering" is factual description, not poetic license. It came in very handy for reading in bed as a small child, but made sneaking out to the woods to meet her mortal lover very difficult (she usually managed with gloves, dark glasses and a balaclava).

2. has mixed feelings about her startling beauty - is not keen on being seen as just a useful bargaining counter to be exchanged for alliance. Any actual battling evil is out of the question in case she gets a scar. Also, she feels that nobody takes her seriously because they are too busy staring. She finds it quite hurtful that her female friends are so sarcastic when she tries to unburden herself on this point - men, she finds, tend to be more sympathetic.

3. often jokes that she was so bored that by the time Beren turned up she would have run away with absolutely anyone, just for a bit of excitement.
