And it's gorgeous, but you know that. I love how Tonks knows, how she loves him anyway and tells him in desperation before he goes underground, how it's such a relief on the few times he's able to be completely truthful, and how all of this is so awful and complicated and unreal compared to what he is when he's with Sirius. Oh, REMUS.

What does Tonks find?
I think I liked best of all your description of Remus' feelings for Tonks. I think they make a lot of sense in their simplicity, especially with Remus being quite a bit older than Tonks.
Really nicely done! Now can you please explain to me why JKR found it necessary to kill Remus? Or, actually, were you okay with that?

I found myself pondering this as I was writing! I think I finally settled that, in my version of things, she gets a Remus, too. Sort of like how I like to think that Lily can hang out with Snape and James at the same time. Like . . . in the instance of being torn between people you love, maybe the parts of their souls that were the most attached to each person kind of split apart to be with them? Heavenly Horcruxes! Hells yes! And . . . okay, this is why I shouldn't be allowed to think about anything for too long. Damn it, it's heaven. Anything goes. That's my final answer.

I was actually totally fine with Remus, because honestly, I never thought he'd survive the series, and there was such a poignant rightness to having him there in the forest with Sirius, Lily, and James at the end. I did think that the manner in which she handled his death was sort ( ... )
