[for Ronon--backdated to February 1]

Jennifer hadn't expected to be delivering a baby on her shift--much less two babies--but it had been thrilling and wonderful even with the undercurrent of family tension going that Jennifer hadn't really understood. The mom and the babies were healthy and resting comfortably, and that was the important thing. (Jennifer had her doubts about the ( Read more... )

"Hey," he said in greeting - glancing towards the now quiet infirmary. "Sounded busy." It was not as if Ronon hadn't been aware people had kids on this island - there were plenty of them about and Teyla of couse had been expectant before she had been gone. It had still been a surprise when he had heard evidence of a new arrival arriving when coming to meet Jennifer. "Everyone okay?"

"Yeah," Jennifer said, glancing back toward the clinic with a little smile. "Everyone's fine. Sorry I didn't make it to our lesson...I was helping with a delivery. Twins." She grinned, thinking about how cute the little fellows were. "I could have let the next doctor on duty take over, but..." She shook her head, trying to imagine what it would be like to give birth with the most unpleasant doctor in the universe (at least, that was his TV persona). "It's nicer for the mom to have the same doctors with her the whole time. I was glad Henri was there, though; two babies!" She had never assisted at a twin birth before, and it was amazing.

She glanced up at Ronon, yawning. "What are you doing up here this time of the morning?"

Ronon has a hard time picturing Jennifer walking away from any patient let alone a mother in labour. Twins maybe account for the level of volume he heard earlier, "Yeah?" he asked "They healthy?" On Sateda, twins often came early and were small even if they didn't but but he didn't think she'd be so pleased if there were problems.

He shrugged next to her, "I couldn't sleep so I went for a run and then came here to shower - it was quiet so I thought I'd wait for you."

"As healthy as can be," Jennifer answered. "Small, like most twins are, but so sweet." The babies made her miss little Torren back on Atlantis, her youngest patient, and miss Teyla as well. Teyla had been a good friend to her, and though the Teyla on island hasn't known her as well as the Teyla on Atlantis, Jennifer still missed her.

"How long have you been waiting? I hope not too long." She yawned again and rolled her head from side to side, stretching her neck. It had been a long night for all of them.

Ronon nodded pleased for whoever the parents were - children were always a blessing even in a place like this. And there were no Wraith here - something he thought even though most people here had never had to worry about the Wraith.

"Not long," he said. "Hour and a half." It had been a really long run.
