[for Ronon]

There was a leak in the roof of her... hut, yurt, whatever this thing was. There was a little puddle of melted snow right on top of her bed, and her hut was small enough that there was really nowhere to move the bed that it would be away from the leak. So, the only thing to do was go up on the roof and fix it ( Read more... )

Ronon had been hunting and though he had ample opportunity to make a kill the deer were so large, he had revised his plans. He would need somewhere to smoke meat so it wasn't wasteful and while he had killed bigger animals than he could eat in the past he wasn't going to do it when he had other options. He could so with setting up with somewhere to prepare a kill given that he didn't have to do it on the move . . . ever again.

He had managed to get something leather from the damned box. It was still dumb but it would do for now. The black leather was not that warm but he would get fur if this weather lasted much longer.

He spotted her as he came into the settlement just because someone on a roof stood out and Jennifer on a roof stood out even more. He gazed up at her for a long moment wondering if there was a particular reason she wasn't moving.

"You going up?" he called, "or coming down."

Of all the people she didn't want to see her stuck on the roof like this, Ronon would be at the top of the list. "Ummm," she said, and squeezed her eyes shut against the way the roof seemed to spin around and around. "Down? In a minute? Maybe?"

Ronon frowned. She didn't sound too sure but he knew she was scared of heights so he would give her her minute. "Okay," he called and moved to hold the ladder steady for her.

Jennifer remained still on the snow-covered roof for a moment longer, willing the dizziness to go away. It didn't, really, but it let up enough that she felt she could move again--very carefully--without puking. She inched backward a little at a time until her feet bumped the edge of the ladder (it didn't move, so she figured Ronon was holding it) and then very slowly made her way down.

"Whew," she said, breathing a huge sigh of relief and dusting off the front of her jacket and jeans, which were coated with snow. "Thanks...oh, shoot."

She looked up at the roof--which she had forgotten to fix. What a waste.
