John Lives

Thank you, JD Morgan, for the alpha and the omega and everything in between. Your understanding of John Winchester's spirit and embodiment of his essence are all I could ever ask for. We are of John, Always.

For me, this was the perfect closure. I'm happy to leave it as it stands.

I've been thinking about you ever since we learned John was going to be coming back to SPN for the 300th episode. I've seen some of your tweets recently, and the fact that JDM actually follows you - man, dodger, that's badass. So cool.

It was a nice homage to have John back if only for such a short time. I would have loved to seen more of him, but to have him at all, man, what a treat. I'm so pleased that some wrongs have been righted, and that John, who in my eyes, has always been awesome, despite his flaws, was able to express his feelings and love to his boys and hopefully can now be seen in a better light for all those fans that are less than enthusiastic about John. But, not us. We will also speak long and loud for John. He's the man. And the fact that he sacrificed himself again (for the 2nd time) for his family - who can really truly deny the love and devotion he has for his family.

Now, if only we can have him back again, and this time to stay. I do love John.

He is the best, isn't he? Both JD and John. I've been very concerned about how they were going to handle this, but JD stating that he was coming back specifically to redress some of the John-bashing the show has done over the past several years and to make sure John got the kind of send off he deserved gave me great hope. And I was deeply pleased with how they handled it. JD has grown so much as an actor since those days of S1 (although I will always believe his instinctive embrace of John's essence makes John the greatest character he ever has or ever will play), and the easy confidence of owning his own characterization from the roots up really showed that ( ... )

Damn, that was....perfect.

And hello! Long fucking time no see. :D

Perfect indeed. And hello to you, too. There was a point several years ago where the show left my heart and became a chore to watch, so I curtailed my fannish activities accordingly, feeling it wouldn't be fair to harsh everyone else's squee with my ever deepening dissatisfaction. But I do miss the people on LJ and the fan community. We had some wonderful times back in the heyday, and some of my fondest memories of fandom are from the Supernatural family and those wonderful boys to whom I am still quite devoted.

Yeah, you can't always love everything, and it's not quite the same as it was.

But we missed you 'round the flists! :D I hope you've been doing well and having fun with other things, in mean time.

I can't believe we've come so far - 300 episodes, 15 seasons! (Well, 15 is to come, but still....)

And LJ/DW are doing a bit brisker business, these days, now that Tumblr got so stupid, so that's fun, too.

:D

I miss the flists, too. I had actually gafiated from fandom after losing my Trek mojo, but SPN dragged me back in for several years, so when SPN let me go, I was already pretty much gone. I'm always a fan of specific things (JD being chief amongst them), but no longer play in any fandom so much as periodically reminisce about how much fun I had back in the day, playing in fandom. :D Glad to hear LJ/DW are picking back up though ... always felt their structure provided the perfect place for a creative fandom to thrive. And with the huge part fandom has played in my life over the years, I love knowing that it still exists as a creative, thriving, living entity and safe haven for those who wish to share their love of a show and/or actor rather than simply hating on them in 240 characters or less.

Yes!! ❤️❤️❤️

I actually started re-reading some of your stories when I heard John would be back. 😍

That's about the coolest compliment I could receive. The John JD gave us this episode is everything I ever wanted in John, and everything I ever wrote about, trying to capture the ephemeral nature of JD's performance in the written word of fanfic.

OMG, so great to hear from you again here! I don't do Twitter or Tumblr or anything else, so I've mostly lost touch with all my old fandom flist. Having JDM come back was a gift, and seeing you post here was a pleasure as well!

Hi! I hear you about losing touch with old fandom flisters. I had to step away from SPN fandom several years ago when the show veered too far away from the show I once loved for me to continue interacting on the subject in a positive way. While I've continued to watch out of loyalty to the boys, my opinions were no longer the kind of thing I felt it would be fair to share. Hard enough to find something you love in this world: no one really needs a disgruntled old timer harshing their squee every week, right ( ... )
