I don't watch the show, never could get into it, but I suspect maybe this script was caught in the "finished but not re-written" scripts of the shows shooting during the early days of the writer's strike, maybe?

I suspect the same thing. It very much felt like that: like something that had been written and refined through the lower eschelons, but not put through the fine tuning process the topliners do to take something from high rez scan to output quality image. To be perfectly candid, it actually read (watched?) like an actor's script to me ... something written by someone involved enough in the show to really get the tone and the characters and the basic structures, but who isn't an actual scriptwriter and consquently fell victim to several relatively egregious errors that a show with that kind of writing staff doesn't usually let through the filter ( ... )
