Or how to take an otherwise great episode and downgrade it to only good. Holy hell, guys. I feel a serious case of DodgerWinslow, S.D. (Script Doctor) coming on ...
I suspect the same thing. It very much felt like that: like something that had been written and refined through the lower eschelons, but not put through the fine tuning process the topliners do to take something from high rez scan to output quality image. To be perfectly candid, it actually read (watched?) like an actor's script to me ... something written by someone involved enough in the show to really get the tone and the characters and the basic structures, but who isn't an actual scriptwriter and consquently fell victim to several relatively egregious errors that a show with that kind of writing staff doesn't usually let through the filter.
I didn't pay attention to the writing credit (should have, but didn't), so I don't even know who is credited for it; but the way it played, it almost makes me want to hold a big neon sign over it that says "Example! Example! This is why you pay the scriptwriters for internet downloads and DVD sales ... because they are WORTH it, dammit!"
I probably should actually go back and check the writing credit just to see who actually IS credited. Because if someone was in-process on this and they put it to screen as a final script and credited it to them because they were on strike and not available to polish it to viewable degree? Oh, man. THAT would be a shit-hits-the-fan BIGtime offense.
