ranua's birthday! I actually had it finished two weeks early but I have been doing all my posting from my laptop and this fic isn't on my laptop. Anyways, thank you for your patience, babe - I hope you enjoy it! Look, my first official Justified fic!! Like writing Raylan and Boyd

I think you did a very good job of capturing their voices. You always do so well with voices for younger people and you managed to capture that something that says Harlan too.
Raylan's comparison of Harlan to a Twilight Zone episode is spot on and prophetic since as an adult he can't escape either. And Boyd's metaphor bout life on the bottom of the ocean, too perfect. Of course he would have 'useless' knowledge floating around in his head even at a young age.
It's a fabulous birthday gift and I can't thank you enough for thinking of me bb. :D

ahahaha - Excellent! I am so glad you liked it, babe!! I can honestly say it was a joy to write. I was so excited to show it to you, it's been driving me crazy having to wait.

Thank you! I don't know what it says about me that I am able to write kids and teens so well, but I'll take it because I really enjoy it. (I'll tell you the secret to writing 'Harlan' is to go "Firefly-lite' but the real challenge was capturing the very unique way both of these particular men engage with each other).
Of course he would have 'useless' knowledge floating around in his head even at a young age.LOL I wasn't sure if people actually knew that about the life at the bottom of the ocean back then, but once I thought of it, it seemed both the perfect, metaphor for this situation and like one of those random things Boyd is always spewing ( ... )

Thank you!! That is an amazing compliment that someone who doesn't watch the show was intrigued by these characters. (because on the show they are highly compelling individuals with a very unique relationship). I take this as high praise.
In other news - You Should Watch "Justified". The cast is all smokin hot, every episode is packed full in a way that leaves you wanting more, the characters are all subtle and yet unendingly complex and everyone has guns and shit blows up. Seriously, Deputy US Marshall Raylan Givens is so your type, babe - this show was made for you. The Awesome Husband (TM) would love it too, I think.

Ha, you called The Awesome Husband (TM) by his internet name! Sweet!

And now that I think about it - Boyd Crowder is totally your type too.

Wait...that's not his actual name? Here I always thought it was. ;)

I think this was a realistic, age-appropriate look at how the Boyd/Ralen dynamic could have begun. It would have worked with Ava as easily, with the concentration on the bond of shared experience and empathy instead of the sexual at this stage.
Boyd's voice was perfectly Boyd, with Raylen pulling him back to earth. This was great :-)

I could feel both the boys' sadness weighing down, both of them trying to cover it up but knowing it would be okay if some slipped through.
I am so thrilled you felt that coming through my words. And I am so glad The Twilight Zone metaphor worked as well.

I hadn't thought of that until you mentioned it and then I couldn't help but think of how this conversation would have been different, and at the same time, the same between Ava and Raylan. It was fascinating to think about and I am definitely catalouging it away for future writing ideas.
This comment made me incredibly happy, darling. Thank you.

this is chilling
That makes me happy in ways I can't even express.
how grown up they are.
I was struggling at first with making them sound in-character and yet like teenagers...and then I realized that neither Raylan nor Boyd ever really had the luxury of being kids and then suddenly, the whole feel of the piece slipped into place.
I am so happy you enjoyed it, darling.

I saw you wrote some characters into The Hunger Games!! I am still that far behind on my Flist from being sick, but I actually bounced a little in my seat to see you had written that.

“Yeah? Like out west maybe? Start a detective agency or somethin’.”
“I was thinkin’ we’d be bounty hunters. Who knows how to catch criminals better ’n two guys raised up by criminals?”
NowI want to read this AU like crazy! This would be excellent!

Hahahaha Well, I kind of want to write it! I would have to watch some of those reality-TV bounty hunter shows so I knew what the hell I was talking about.
Thanks for reading! Glad you liked it!
