I'm writing a fix fic where in the time before Journey's End Rose ends up teaming up with Romana, who survived the Time War. What I want to fix is the end with Rose and Tentoo; instead of the Doctor just deciding for Rose and Tentoo what to do (like decidng they'll stay in Pete's World) Romana offers them a choice of going with her instead.

It always sort of bothered me how Rose and Tentoo happened in cannon, even though fanfic has made me like this pairing. Also, I remember being disapointed that Tentoo was placed in an alternate universe; I thought there could have been some interesting story potential with his character, and then he was shuffled off to an alternate universe to never be seen again.

Rose and Romana teamups and then a Rose, TenII and Romana Team TARDIS sounds like the best thing ever. <3

Is Leela around, or did she not make it through the Time War?

I am a big fan of Nine, so I write a lot of stories where Nine did not regenerate so soon.

I also write stories where Nine and Rose did not leave Jack behind. A good many of my stories are Fix Its along these lines.

I wrote a couple of fanfiction where Martha politely declines
to travel with the Doctor after the Doctor transforms into Rebound Date from a sit com and in both cases the Doctor revaluated his attitude and he is more truthful with her.

I realized with time, as to Martha's love for the Doctor, that a lot resentment I felt was not towards what had been written (Although much of what was written "He had to fall in love with a human and it wasn't me" was inane), but had been re-imagined by fans.

I love fix it fics for Journey's End where either the Doctor can safely remove the extra knowledge from Donna without erasing her memories or where she is able to keep them.

I also love Fix its for the Library where the Doctor is able to save River.

Fix its where EOT doesn't happen or whether the Master doesn't die are awesome too.

Gotta admit I a bit look down on fixits as such. I avoid them when they're like "I'M FIXING THIS!" because when that gets done over and over we're veering close to Denial Land. I mean, I don't like River dying in the Library, but she's had her time and while it's interesting to see how people avoid it, I'm not big into "and then she was fine and they lived together FOREVER ( ... )

Fix-its are AU, just a special type. I kind of feel the same way about denial fics, but really there are levels of denial and all of fan fiction is AU until one of us get hired by the BBC to write Who ( ... )

This. I feel with most things labeled "fixit" you can practically hear the author's agenda and things being checked off it, and the single minded focus often is to the detriment of things like characterization and logic. Things labeled "AU after X" often seem more laid back and just the author wanting to write more around a character or time period in the show, which I personally don't mind.

I remember the days when 99% of fic was "Doomsday Fix-It #63713" and it was kind of dull.
I was not around for that, but having seen some of the more, um, "overwrought" post-Doomsday fixits I can only imagine that it was an...interesting time in fandom. (Though I feel like post Journey's End was pretty bad too, because the {"fixes" were a billion times more convoluted)
