Peri's unfair death and highly improbable rescue

I've always been bothered by Peri's death in "Trial of a Time Lord." First the Doctor starts acting very un-Doctor-like and turns on her. Then she ends up having her mind switched into another body which is then killed. Then the Time Lords force a warrior king named Yrcanos to shoot her body ( Read more... )

Yes, those are Uhura and Saavik. My cartoons tend to be crossovers.

I'd hate to think that. What was particularly awful was watching the Doctor go all evil and betray her and then have her die. So mostly I just need something to get that image out of my mind. Do I take this all way too seriously or what? :)

It's very tricky to be sure of what is real and what is fake in Mindwarp because of the tampering of the Matrix, and the fact that, when we hear she's alive in The Ultimate Foe, the person we hear this from is the Master. Of course, although he's the least reliable of sources, we must wonder why he'd have any reason to lie in this regard. In the end, this is one of those situations where each person has to "make" their own conclusion regarding what happened and how.

In the Mindwarp novelization, Philip Martin added an epilogue where it was revealed that the High Council sent Peri and Yrcanos to Earth in her time period. It's a rather happy ending, and one I prefer to either Peri and the Piscon Paradox or any of the other known outcomes, so it's the one I personally follow.
