Peri's unfair death and highly improbable rescue
I've always been bothered by Peri's death in "Trial of a Time Lord." First the Doctor starts acting very un-Doctor-like and turns on her. Then she ends up having her mind switched into another body which is then killed. Then the Time Lords force a warrior king named Yrcanos to shoot her body.
Then, several episodes later (which for me was several WEEKS later, because I was watching the run on PBS), we are given the "news" that she is not dead but alive and happy with Yrcanos. However, there is no explanation given, not even the tiniest little bit. How could she possibly have survived?
Anybody have any guesses? And did the BBC ever return to this one way or another, such as in an audiobook or a Missing Episode book?
