Well strictly speaking, the exact anniversary was yesterday, but today is the equivalent Saturday of five years ago.

For me, yesterday was also four years since I met Toby Haynes at my local convention, not to mention also meeting several lovely girls from this comm who I was hanging out with at the time, who swarmed him with additional murmurs of love and requests for autographs after I initially stopped him.

So April 3rd is very, very special to me and will always have a place in my heart.

I posted this combination of Timehop selections on my Instagram yesterday.

Yeah. I figured because the days hop around and we never really watched DW in the middle of the week that it was still approximately the proper day. Matturday. :D ( ... )

Ugh, I used LJ's own upload feature for that picture, so for it to not be working is ridiculous. GODDAMMIT, LJ ( ... )

I thought the local convention was going to move back up here, then it never did. ._.
I live over in the valley in Davis.

I completely agree about Tumblr. It is fantastic for my mum who posts photographs and joins photo blogs though even then, it would be nice to have a better platform for discussion. I sent a message to someone once after going through all of their awkward menus and it was this big, blocky, inelegant thing with a really big font. I wasn't even sure that it had worked properly at first.

Ah, I miss those large, public discussions. I must say, we were all remarkably well-behaved and friendly on here. :)

If I can think of anything else to post/contribute, I definitely will!

I remember being so anxious and worried about this 'new' Who despite being a long long long time fan. It just seemed to be a huge change and I was worried. But then Matt and Karen appeared and I fell in love. I turned to my husband and asked him if it was bad that I thought I loved this Doctor more than Ten after only 20 minutes. Eleven was, is and always will be my favourite and I thoroughly enjoyed all the interactions throughout his run. Truly was a fun time to be on Livejournal and to be a Who fan.

I had the same reaction. :) I saw Four on PBS reruns when I was small (and probably should not have been watching because despite the low tech look, there were some seriously scary eps!). I was super excited when the film came out, then nothing, no return of Who. Then when it came back I eventually heard about it and it was something to look forward to every week. But for some reason, Eleven was special. You described it perfectly! Seeing the ep with Four and Eleven nearly did me in. My two special Doctors!!

Yeah, those were good times. <3

I think it was a perfect storm for me. Perfect Doctor, perfect companions, perfect storylines at least in S5 -- and I forgave a lot of the later stuff which was less awesome because of how much I loved the characters. Eleven in the TARDIS with Amy, Rory and River was just such an awesome combination. I loved them all apart, but together I forgave everything dodgy because the four of them were great.

And yes, before Eleven my favourite was Four. The two of them together were just <3 I adored that episode.

Yes! I agree that some of the later stuff wasn't quite as good. I somewhat blame them messing with the episode format and splitting up the seasons into two halves. It just sucked the life out of it in some respects. That momentum you get with a full 13 eps is amazing! And it seemed as if they felt it necessary to make two mini seasons instead of one.

but together I forgave everything dodgy because the four of them were great.

Yeah. :)

That nearly broke me seeing them together. I had to hide my face I was getting so emotional. Four. <3

Hooray for Eleventh Hour Day! Such a great episode. It's my favorite introductory episode of a new Doctor, and we've had, what, twelve of those? Thirteen if you count Handy or the War Doctor, and fourteen if you count both of them.

Anyway, back to Eleventh Hour. I love the introduction of Eleven, I love Amelia, and I love the way he almost immediately has to save the Earth. You can see from the start his quirkiness, and his alien-ness, and his intelligence, and his great ability to form connections with people.

Favorite lines from off the top of my head:

"Must be a hell of a crack in your wall."
"And I am never introducing myself that way again."
"Is that what I look like? . . . Busy day."

And, of course:
"I'm the Doctor." What a great moment between Eleven and the Atraxi!

Eleventh Hour was the episode that made me fall in love with the Eleventh Doctor. Of course, Matt Smith went on to give many fabulous performances in episodes after that, but this episode will always be very special to me.

Definitely! It was so brilliantly done!

That end sequence of him and the Atraxi at the end with all of the (sort of) Doctor's faces was amazing, yes!
"Basically, run."

Matt and co. were amazing!!

"That's rubbish. Who's that?" :D

I watched it earlier and had to stop myself from marching down the street to get fish and custard. I made that once and my roommates just went, "Ewwww. Why??"

I was at my parents' house with no Internet and so had to wait a week until I could watch the whole episode (I watched the first ten minutes or so on YouTube but couldn't do any more than that). I had really disliked David Tennant's final episodes though, so I was basically thinking, "If this Matt Smith guy doesn't impress me, I guess I'm done with Doctor Who." And then he won my heart within about five seconds and all was well.

The final eps of Ten did get a little cracktastic and a touch whiney.
I think that as soon as he listed off little Amelia's fearlessness and then said, "Must be one hell of a scary crack in your wall" he had won me over. Or perhaps even when he stuck his head out of the TARDIS, all wet and grinning manically.

I love this episode. Still one I can re-watch and not get tired of it. The music alone is just epic, and the scene where Eleven picks out his new clothes will never not give me chills. Pure magic, from beginning to end. Moff at his strongest. Maybe only Day of the Doctor was better than this.

(I just realized the actress who played the mother of the two little girls is playing the female detective in Broadchurch with David Tennant.)

Can't believe it's been five years already. Wow.

I keep meaning to check out Broadchurch.

I love how you don't see him pick out the bowtie, he just walks through the hologram of the various Doctors already wearing it before telling the Atraxi to run. The entire episode is so epic, yes! I rewatched it earlier and had forgotten the bit where he commandeers the fire truck!

Can't believe it's been five years already. Wow

It's still sinking in...

I love Broadchurch! I may have turned up there for Arthur Darvill and David Tennant but i stayed for Olivia Colman. She is amazing and I love her character the most <3

OOh! All of those folks are in it? I definitely have to check this out now. This is one of the reasons why I love British television. :)
