Can't wait for the new season to start, but seriously -- for the 50th Anniversary, a single 60-minute episode? Really, Moffat? Cause that's kinda pathetic, to be quite honest.
First of all, Moffat may not have any control over what the BBC is willing to commission in terms of the 50th. Without budget and/or scheduling, it's kind of hard to do anything more. So blaming him for everything isn't really fair.
Also, the thing at Toy Fair may have misinterpreted. It listed some things coming up, but doesn't say "this, and only this". So there MAY be more than just a 60 minute special. Obviously most of us are hoping there's more to it.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. If it's that short, the production team probably doesn't have any control over that. It's all down to the BBC and I know in the past couple years, there's been a bit of bitching in fandom that the BBC hasn't really been treating DW with the respect it deserves, and there are money issues, and that's just the way the industry works. :|

This. I personally would think that if the Moff had had an unlimited budget, and the BBC's cooperation, there'd have been specials every month for a year. It really IS down to budget. The only thing I think he's guilty of is hyberbole in terms of pimping it, but I suspect it was wishful thinking and/or hoping the BBC would back him up. ;)
I just have seen too many people blaming HIM and that's not how the industry works. He may have wanted to do a 12 part special for all we know, starring all surviving doctors and companions, Sir Kenneth Branagh, the Rolling Stones and Her Majesty, but if the BBC said "nope, we're giving you 60 minutes, £ 150, and a gallon of latex to do makeup with", that's all he can work with.
For what it's worth, I don't know where people are coming up with the Doctor Revisited specials are only 25 minutes (other than an erroneous newspaper article). It's on the BBC America schedule and it's a 2 hour block. Which means it will be at least 90 minutes plus commercials.
So exciting! It feels like it's been forever without an airdate. It sucks about the 50th if it's true, but since we don't know for sure yet, I guess I'll wait to whine about it if and when it's actually confirmed.
