It would be interesting to have a lesbian companion--since we're sort of used to the "companion falls in love with the Doctor" trope, it would make for a nice change of pace to see a girl who wasn't attracted to the Doctor. That said, I am skeptical that Moffat could handle a lesbian storyline without blundering into stereotypes and other offensive things.

As for Madame Vastra, she was a lot of fun and it'd be cool to see her again. But is she really going to fall for Clara if she's still living with Jenny?

And that's another reason why I'm sceptical of it too, unless it's Vastra pre or post Jenny to be honest.

I think Moffat could write a decent gay female companion, considering how well he did with Canton, though whether or not Clara will be gay, we don't know until more information is released about her and I can't see that happening until after Amy and Rory's last episode has aired.

Polyamourous lesbian relationship? That'd be an actual first for DWverse.

I suppose they could do that, or maybe having multiple partners is part of Silurian culture or something. It doesn't seem likely, though.

Phwaor, reptiles!

While I'm sure the Moff thinks long and hard about lizard spank inferno, I'm not sure he'd go there on screen. Of course, it says "Madame Vastra falls for Clara" which doesn't mean the feelings are reciprocated...

It could be some jokey, flirty banter between them, akin to Vastra/Jenny in A Good Man Goes To War. It'd fly over the younger viewers heads and still cause a bit of a stir. If there's any truth at all to this of course.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking.

I can imagine the BBC execs clutching their pearls over anything more.

And the Daily Fail too, if they haven't picked up on this story yet.

Bahahaha what even. Jesus Christ.

I think this is probably them reading too much into Moff welcoming Neve McIntosh to Twitter. I love how "source" usually means "no one, because we're making this shit up."

Or 'we read this on Gallifrey Base so we might as well pretend it's true'. How many times has that happened in the past? (A: often)

Oh yeah, that too. I haven't spent as much time there lately as I did in series past, but that used to be a cherished pastime on the Spoiler/Spec thread. Make shit up and see if it gets published! (It did.)

I don't trust Moffat with the idea. I trust him with lots of other things, but not this. Let's hope it is rubbish. Or something based on a bit of truth then blown out of proportion. Like, the truth kernel is, Madam Vastra is returning. Or, Clara is a lesbian. The rubbish is the rest.

LIES. VASTRA WOULD NEVER CHEAT ON JENNY. NEVER.

Although, frankly, I could see a pre-relationship storyline in which Vastra's obvious interest in Clara bugs Jenny enough that Vastra finally asks what's wrong, and Jenny manages rather fumblingly to get out, "Why her and not me?" At which point Vastra points out that (1) She didn't even know that mammals had that orientation before Clara showed up and started flirting, and (b) Jenny's her servant, and it would be highly inappropriate to do anything that could be interpreted as an order to sleep with her, and is Jenny sure? And Jenny is quite, quite sure. Fade rather hastily to black ( ... )

That's where I went with that, too, haha. I like your explanation, though--it would make an adorable speculation fic!

This, this is exactly how this goes.
