While I'm sure the Moff thinks long and hard about lizard spank inferno, I'm not sure he'd go there on screen. Of course, it says "Madame Vastra falls for Clara" which doesn't mean the feelings are reciprocated...

It could be some jokey, flirty banter between them, akin to Vastra/Jenny in A Good Man Goes To War. It'd fly over the younger viewers heads and still cause a bit of a stir. If there's any truth at all to this of course.

OMG! Yes! Their heads will spin and then explode at the thought of an interspecies same sex relationship.

I just think even the Beeb wouldn't be progressive enough to stand for it. I have a feeling that if Clara turns out to be anything other than straight, the best we can hope for is bisexual.

Bisexual would be good too but yeah, a non heterosexual female companion would not harm this show at all.

Oh, definitely. I just assume that they wouldn't want to go *there* yet with a full time companion because they'd worry about backlash. THINK OF THE CHILDREN! and all that. (It would be fantastic if there was an openly gay full-time companion, believe me. I just don't trust TPTB to be that open minded for a pre-watershed family show, esp one that they're selling worldwide.)

Heh. I really liked Jenny/ Vastra, so I'd be bummed to see them split up for whatever reason (or Jenny dead); I guess a pre-Jenny story would be okay, but I did like them as a couple and would hate to see that change.

I don't put a lot of stock in this article for all the reasons others have mentioned, though.

It'll be interesting to see which way Clara swings. I don't think we'd see anything more scandalous than her holding hands with another female character and maybe strong hints of off-screen snogging. Regardless of her persuasion, I really don't want another companion mooning over the Doctor. Can't anyone travel with him just because they think it would be fun? LOL.
