The Brigadier - a picspam tribute

Feb 23, 2011 21:31

bardingtide  kindly posted a tribute earlier, but I thought it would be fitting to also post a picspam tribute, so that those of us familiar with The Brig could reminisce, and those not familiar could discover his awesome.

Two non-Eleven era posts in one day? Well, it's like this. The passing of Nicholas Courtney is a great shame for the current era. The ( Read more... )

Lovely picspam. I've been tearing up a little every time I've read a tribute this past day.

Seriously, the Brig coming back was one of my two biggest fantasies for the show (the other being Ian Chesterton coming back for an episode, GET ON THAT, MOFF).
The resulting Confidential for any episode with Eleven and the Brig pretty much would have been Matt squealing about Nicholas Courtney and talking about how amazing it is to be in an episode with THE Brigadier himself.

The one really nice thing I see coming out of his death is all of fandom coming together to say goodbye. I mean, our comm isn't related to him at all, and I'm sure we're not the only unrelated place in fandom who is paying tribute to him. The whole fandom will miss him for sure. ♥

*sobs* I had the fortune to meet him at conventions back in the 90s and he was a lovely, lovely man. You could always find him in the bar and for a price of a drink, he'd be more than happy to talk the night away (I mean that in the best way possible -- he was just unbelievably approachable and friendly to DW fans of all ages). Just this past weekend, at Gallifrey One, John Levene had mentioned he'd spoken to Nicholas and that he'd sent his love to everyone at the con -- less than 24 hrs later, he was gone.

It breaks my heart that the Brig never got to meet either 9, 10 or 11. I kept hoping that he'd recover from his stroke and at least make a quick appearance sometime in the future, but sadly it's not to be.

Sir Alastair will be permanently detained in Peru, I think.

RIP, Nic.
