The Brigadier - a picspam tribute

Feb 23, 2011 21:31

bardingtide  kindly posted a tribute earlier, but I thought it would be fitting to also post a picspam tribute, so that those of us familiar with The Brig could reminisce, and those not familiar could discover his awesome.

Two non-Eleven era posts in one day? Well, it's like this. The passing of Nicholas Courtney is a great shame for the current era. The Brigadier and Eleven could have hit it off so splendidly, and had a truly amazing relationship. And, as sharkshark  pointed out to me earlier today, the epic mutual appreciation bromance between Matt and Nicholas in the Confidentials, would have warmed the coldest fandom heart. The Tweed and braces fanboying alone would be worth the license fee. :D
The Brigadier and Nicholas himself, have worked alongside more Doctors than many people have even watched. The Brig was one of the Earth's finest, and it's fitting that fandom should collectively mourn his loss.

Here's to what we wish could have been; but sadly, Sir, you were taken from us too soon. ;_;

As often happens, it seems, Nicholas first appeared in Doctor Who as a different character, alonside William Hartnell as security agent Bret Vyon in The Daleks' Masterplan.

Then he appeared alongside the Second Doctor in The Web of Fear, but as a colonel, being promoted to Brigadier in his next encounter with the Second Doctor in The Invasion.

The Brigadier spent a lot of time working along the Third Doctor, who had been exiled to Earth, and then appeared alonside every subsequent Doctor on TV with the exception of the Sixth.

And he was reunited with the Second and First Doctors for The Three Doctors.

But whichever Doctor he was with, just check out this BAMF. You'll never be so fly.

RIP. ♥
