I love wee!Amelia! The moment I realised she was praying to Santa Moff, I wanted to keep her in the show and I am still gutted that Eleven didn't get back in time to give her at least one TARDIS trip!!
I really want Moffat to find a way to bring her back again.
And Caitlin was fabulous - great call on Karen's part, suggesting that her cousin play wee!Amelia...
She prays to Santa, that was enough for me. She is seriously adorable, there's really no way around that.
I know this is going to sound weird because of the usual sense of the word, and obviously I don't mean it in the romantic sense, but her chemistry on screen with Matt Smith is amazing. I can't get over it. I mean, Matt Smith seems like he's great with kids, and would have chemistry with a wall, and he kind of did, several times, but honestly. Matt and Caitlin played off each other so well, and when a child actor is talented enough to pull that off, it always amazes me. Realizing how talented Caitlin is was kind of shocking. I'm disappointed that she didn't get to go on at least one big adventure in the TARDIS with the Doctor but her role in The Big Bang, I suppose, is good enough. We just better not have seen the last of her.
I think whether or not we'll see more of Caitlin will depend a lot on how fast she grows up! They cast her to play a seven year old, and I do believe she is what, ten? She may not be wee! for long!
Of course, they could go back and visit Amy as an early adolescent.
But I do agree, she is a fabulous actress. I loved all of her reaction shots to the Doctor's food choices; too cute!
That's a good point, because she definitely doesn't look seven right now. She (Amelia) doesn't act seven either, but Amelia's always had to be more independent than most kids. They could probably get away with Caitlin for another season, maybe, but after that, you're right, probably not for long. Much beyond playing a 13 year old or so, it would probably be more believable visually to have Karen play younger than to have Caitlin play older.
She definitely doesn't act seven! That's the first thing I thought when she turned on the cooker and started frying bacon for the Doctor. Then, like you, I just chalked it up to her losing her parents and having to learn to be more self-sufficient.
And I will be hoping for more Caitlin right along with you!
Amelia Pond, so magical that her eyes actually changed colour once she grew up. *snark* Nah, just kidding. I love her. I love that she was not just a secondary character but very important. She was adorable and inquisitive and lonely and very happy to run off with a strange man who ate fish fingers and custard. I'm not sure whether that pleases me or frightens me.
Caitlin is gorgeous but she really is growing up fast. Even in the gap between The Eleventh Hour and The Big Bang, you can see how much she's changed (she and Karen were even more alike in the second episode). She seemed really cute and grounded and I think it's lovely that they finally got to meet through DW!
She is so freaking adorable. Both Amelia and Caitlin, I mean.
I don't even want kids, but she makes me fantasize about having a wee daughter, because she's so sweet. And Caitlin's dynamic with Matt offscreen was just precious. I hope if Caitlin wants more acting work, she gets it, because I'd love to see her do more stuff and I think she'd be a fantastic feisty girl hero, which is something TV and movies need more of. Maybe it's just the red hair and red clothes, but she reminds me of Annie, and I think she'd be fantastic as that sort of character, all determined and defiant.

Still, I can hope!
Her reaction shots in that scene are golden.
