All Era Thursday is getting a brand new feature!

Jun 28, 2010 10:30

Hey guys! I'm here to announce a brand new feature of All-Era Thursday's: A weekly rewatch of Classic Who! Essentially, sometime during the week or on Thursday itself we'll watch the chosen episode(s) for that week, and then talk about it on Thursday with .gifs, squeeing, sparkle text, and (maybe) some serious discussion ( Read more... )

Are we going to have audios too? (Because Eight lives mostly in audios and I love Eight to bits.)

One - The Aztecs

Three - The Daemons, The Time Monster

Four - City of Death! The Ribos Operation (and all the other Romana episodes, but I am biased)

Five - Castrovalva, Arc of Infinity, The Caves of Androzani

I was talking with nentari actually and she mentioned something about audios as well. I hadn't thought much about it prior, but it is a really good idea! In a day or two, once everyone has had time to post and comment, I'm going to make another poll about which serial to start with, as well as one about audios. :D Thanks!

I love love love this idea as much as I did when first suggested. :D In terms of serials, would it be very dull and conformist of me to suggest watching them in order? I'm being entirely selfish in this suggestion, because I've watched lots of classic serials but never all the way through in the right order, and that feels like a nice plan for me. Watch all the way through classic Who and then through the Eighth Doctor audio books maybe and then hit the modern series right back up to The Big Bang and however far on we are by then.

But if everyone else prefers picking and choosing the actually good serials and changing Doctor as we go along to make everyone happy...well, I will not complain at all! I am just very, very into the idea of watching Classic Who generally! Yay!

Oh, that's not boring at all! I've been TRYING to add a second poll about that to the post, but for some reason it doesn't like me and doesn't want to at all. XD Hopefully I can get that fixed soon so we can get a proper vote on it; but I'm guessing a lot of people will feel the same. We'll just have to wait and see, though.

biichan has already suggested most of the serials I was going to, but I'll add a few that I either love or want to see:

The War Games (Two), Inferno (Three), Carnival of Monsters (Three), Colony in Space (Three), The Ribos Operation and the whole Key to Time arc (Four), Pyramids of Mars (Four), The Ark in Space (Four), Horror of Fang Rock (Four), Robots of Death (Four), The Five Doctors (Five, because it was silly but I loved it anyway), Dragonfire (Seven), The Greatest Show in the Galaxy (Seven), and, just for the lulz, the 1996 TV Movie (Eight).

YES to these, particularly The War Games and the Key to Time.

I'd also like to suggest the following:

The Dalek Invasion of Earth (One), the Metebilis Three Trilogy AKA The Green Death/Invasion of the Dinosaurs/Planet of the Spiders (Three), Genesis of the Daleks (Four), The Hand of Fear (Four), Earthshock (Five) and The Two Doctors (Six).

And, if anyone's able to watch and/or discuss burninated episodes, obvious choices would be The Tenth Planet (One), The Power of the Daleks (Two), Evil of the Daleks (Two) and Fury from the Deep (Two).

If we do burninated we should definitely do Power. I love it so damn much. It's like Victory, but actually good. (Much like Evil is like Daleks Take Manhattan, but actually good.)

My thoughts exactly - Power and Evil would make for interesting comparison studies. (And I know that watching Victory made me grab my Power recon and rewatch it for the umpteenth time.)

What skooterthewhale said. :) It's a brilliant idea!

I've been randomly watching Classic Who since I found a way to, but there's really no system to it and I think I'll get confused by the end of it. This way I get to ask when I don't understand something, and I get to ask you awesome people which is the main thing.

Anyway, my main suggestion would be that whichever way we end up doing it, to go with order (like, not backwards 7 to 2 for example) - but really, I'm easy. :)

Oh shit, the new poll doesn't work for me. Does it work for anyone?

I think I fixed it. D: Sorry bout that. Try again and let me know if it works.

It's not working for me either...I input my answers then it says 'You are not permitted to see this poll'. Which is, uh, weird. But maybe the answers got through anyway?

No- it just isn't working period. D: I THOUGHT I had it working, since I took the poll and it counted my vote, but it says I'm not permitted to see the poll as well... Even though I made it. And right now it looks like my vote is the only that got through. I'm trying to fix it, and hopefully will have it running soon.
