More 'The Time of Angels' clips!

Interesting to note she's Doctor and not Professor Song.

Clearly she hasn't faked, sorry that was Benny earned that Professorship yet.

Help a confused American out--what's the difference?

In America they're more or less interchangeable. Once you've earned a PhD you can be called "doctor," but outside of medicine, nobody really goes by "doctor" unless they're actually in academia.

Like, my high school chemistry teacher had *two* PhDs, and people only called her "doctor" to tease her.

In the UK a Profressor is someone who holds an acadmic chair at a university.

So in this episode River clearly has a Doctorate in Archeology but sometime between the Crash of the Byzantium and her trip to the Library she becomes head of a universitys Archeology department and earns her Professorship. Or she fakes it like Benny cause it sounds cool.

Either way this is definatly a younger version of River
