Oh that's right, I forgot about Ian Marter playing a second part (though I can't for the life of me remember who it was), but I think Gatiss was going on the premise of actual onscreen stories written.

I'm sure he was, I was just taking the opportunity to talk Marter up. And his other part besides Harry was the ship's officer in Carnival of Monsters who gets into the impromptu boxing match with the Doctor when the carnie turns up the aggress-o-meter.
