Nine was so great at angst and the fight he has with Rose in Father's Day is one of my favorites. It's hard to watch and the line Rose says, "I know how sad you are." hits me in the gut every time.

I know!! And the fact that she's mad enough to use it against him in that moment, like a challenge!! That is really hard to watch - but it's so true of real life arguments and relationships >.< ...

I adore that episode because of how real that fight is, despite the outrageous circumstances the fight is so true to life. When you're hurt you want the other person to hurt too, so you throw the most painful things you can think of at them. That's what they did.

Don't have a gif to ~prove my memory is entirely correct~, but I adore the last scene in New Earth when Ten and Rose are watching Cassandra greeting her past self. It is the saddest thing, and their faces as he nudged Rose back into the TARDIS just told me everything I needed to know about their relationship.

Maybe this doesn't count because technically he isn't the Doctor at that point and is in love with joan but John Smith when he's crying about what he knows he's going to lose when he changes back to the Doctor hits me in the guts time and again.
