Doc when I am no longer a poor nursing student I hope you're still painting because I would so LOVE a Virgen de Guadalupe or an Erzulie painting done by you.
I love your religious paintings. They make my heart hum.
So beautiful. Even not being Catholic any longer I wish it were within my budget.
Also, count me perplexed. Those horn-like hooked symbols on the four corners -what's it from? I recornize a general Vodoun vibe so I assume that's where it comes from? That is exactly a symbol I use frequently which is very important within my (European-rooted) beliefs, and I'd never seen it in a different context!
I made the border by drawing bits and pieces of vévés, so yes, Vodoun/voodoo, but no specific meaning. Sort of like a sculpture made from random plaster saints' limbs, I guess.
Don't be afraid to make a budget-friendly offer on a piece! I don't accept them all, but I'm willing to work with potential buyers who love the pieces.
Thanks! I think I'll do that, even though it feels awful to think of making a bid far under your work's true value. I'll make some numbers today, see how much I can manage...
