My husband and I were once having dinner with several of my co-workers in a small, but busy, restaurant on a Friday night. There was a group of about 3 people that kept giving us the stink-eye, until the man came over and said, "I don't mean to be a dick, but could you guys hurry up and leave? Other people are waiting for a table." Because 3 people need the table built for 12.

After that, we all determined that if someone starts a sentence with, "I don't mean to be a dick...", they're about to be a dick.
