*One door. He was off by one stupid door. Three more feet and he'd have been at the kitchen, but no. Near swears the mansion switches more than should be possible ( Read more... )

-Mello, bored again, has been wandering the hallways, and he thought he saw his Near duck into this room, so he follows through the doorway a few steps behind.-

Oi, Nat -

-A closer inspection, and Mello recognizes this isn't the Near he was looking for.-

Oh, it's the boy Nat.

-He looks at his hands, which, he is surprised to find, are now holding a large wooden cross and a bottle of holy water.-

... the fuck is going on here?

Quiet, *hisses Near, stumbling towards him (his cane is gone, for some reason) since he can usually trust a Mello not to kill him outright.*

There's something out there. Shut up and listen.

What?

-Mello stops in his tracks, holding his breath, straining to listen. Wind whips around his head, sending a slight shiver down his back. He tries to shrug it off.-

I don't hear anything.

Has it occured to you that my hearing is probably better than yours?

*He can't hear it either right now, though, it's either backed off or stopped moving. A cornstalk snaps, and he whips around, pitchfork travelling distressingly close to Mello's arm as he spins, nervously.*

(Upon entry, L has a flash light in his hands. This confuses him greatly, and he looks around to see that he is now in a cornfield, along with a few others, if he was seeing correctly. The movie Children of The Corn comes to mind, and he can't help but chuckle despite the situation.)

Outlander!

What is this place?

I don't know. I was just trying to get to the kitchen.

L, I think there's something out there.

...It figures. (L doesn't seem fazed, but he isn't exactly thrilled at the prospect of being torn apart by some unseen menace. He turns on the flash light, it barely penetrating the darkness. Upon seeing movement in the field, his grip on the flashlight tightens)

Near, do you think you could defend yourself properly with that pitchfork?

Of course not. I'm blind.

*He's kind of pointing with the thing vaguely.*

(Meile, true to his word, has been watching out for Near, and sees him go inside. Crap, that isn't good. So he follows after, and then stops dead in his tracks. He's... in a different place? A cornfield? Seriously? He glances over and sees Near holding a pitchfork, and he pushes his goggles on his head with an exasperated look)

...Wut is this, a horror flick?

Maybe. I don't care, I just want out of it.

*There's a noise from nearby that sounds suspiciously like growling. Near tries to brandish his pitchfork in that direction while simultaneously cutting through the rows of corn towards Meile.*

Near was trying to find the music room. She had been searching for it all morning long. She figured that she would give up after trying a few more doors. With her backpack on her back and her sky blue guitar clutched tightly in her right hand, she pushed open the door. But what she found beyond that simple door was anything but a music room. The next thing she knew, she was transported into what reminded her of a scene from Jeepers Creepers. A field. What was in it? She realized that the guitar she had been holding was now a sawed off double barrel shotgun and her backpack was suddenly a lot heavier than what it had felt than before. She slipped it off of her shoulders and set it down upon the ground then opened it to reveal bullets.

"What the hell?!" She asked herself quietly.

No one knows.

Stay low. There's something out here with us.

She did just that and kept quiet. However, she wasn't about to let anyone take them by surprise. She quickly withdrew a few bullets from the backpack and loaded them into the gun. She had fairly good aim since Mello had taken her shooting back home. She cocked the gun and took aim, eyes upon the field, ears trying to listen for anything off.

You've got a gun?

*How come he has a pitchfork and she gets a gun. The sound of it being cocked eases some of his fear a little.*

Be careful not to shoot anyone from the mansion. Anyone good, at least, there are other people out here.

[Light steps inside. or, at least, he intends to step inside. it starts out as stepping inside. but it quickly becomes what can only be described as being dragged inside. dirt scuffs up beneath the soles of his shoes and soon, blinking and disoriented, he finds himself standing at the edge of the corn, with his right hand clasped tightly around something that feels rather weighty.

looking down, he sees that he is holding a shinken.]

... oh come on. What the hell?

Oh, perfect.

*A Light. Near just about collides head on with him, emerging from the corn at a run.*

Don't go in there, there's something in there.

[upon seeing the approaching Near, carefully holds the sword out to the side so as not to, you know, impale him.]

"Something"? Something as in, what? I have no clue what's going on. I just found myself... propelled in here a couple of seconds ago and now I'm apparently equipped with a sword. And not a practice sword, either.

I've got a pitch fork.

Something as in something. It's not human and it keeps growling. It doesn't sound friendly and I'm--

*He's cut off by a moaning sort of howl.*
