Looking for a favor -- Matsuda

The Request Room is waiting, as it always is -- black walls, ceiling, and floor, spotlights, small golden table. On the table is a stack of thick cream-colored cards made of heavy cotton rag paper, a small stand holding a dip pen and black ink (in a red, apple-shaped inkwell), a silver bowl, and one larger placard, covered with elegant script and ( Read more... )

The large silent and elegant room, at first, put Matsuda off from the idea of going in and doing what he had meant to earlier, but after considering it for a while, and the nagging voice inside his head bothering him from the fact that he knew the L back in his world could be saved from his fate if he could back him up on his theory that light was Kira.

Then, when Matsuda found out that there was a room that granted requests, he was even more bothered by it. After a while, he finally convinced himself to come back in here, and make his way over to the spot-lighted are in the center of the room where the little peices of stacked paper lay...

Matsuda picked one up, gulping once in slight nervousness as he glancecd at the ink and pen. He looked curiously at the inkwell for only a second before focusing in on the card and writing 'To temporarily go back home to my previous world' in the space where it told him to state his request ( ... )

*The card vanishes, with a flash and a soft puff!, leaving behind a trail of violet-tinted smoke that rises in the air.*

*After a moment, ornate, spidery red writing begins to appear on the next card in the stack.*

You may keep your necklace, but upon return, you will lose your voice for two weeks. Turn this card over, and write on the reverse how long you would like to spend in your home world, then place it in the bowl.

Matsuda blinked at the smoke, and was only slightly suprised at the writing.

'oh wait...how will i tell L about light if i cant speak..?',he thought, but then felt stupid as he read the writing and it said upon your return. He smiled lightly for a moment, but then flipped the card over slowly.

He didnt know exactly when L was designated to die. All he knew was that he needed to be there long enough so that he could convince L that his own suspect was the correct one. Matsuda nodded and wrote '17 days' on the card. es, about 2 and a half weeks should give him enough time. hopefully.
Matsud set it down in the bowl and gently put the inkpen back into place, still staring at the bowl.

*At first, nothing happens. Then, the bowl begins to rattle, as if it's the epicenter of a very small earthquake. There are three quick puffs of violet smoke, all trailing, and the card vanishes; again, red writing appears on the top card in the stack.

You will be gone for 17 days as soon as you are ready.

Upon your return, you will find a portable whiteboard, marker, and erasing cloth in your room. You may use it to communicate for the two weeks during which you have no voice.

GOOD LUCK!

*The Master finds, after all, that he is fond of these Ls -- no less fond of the Lights, of course, but fond of the Ls -- and that this time, it isn't so difficult to grant Matsuda's request.*

*Next time, though, the cost will be greater. Matsuda has gotten an unusually easy bargain.*
