1) I personally consider them polite, but a lot of people consider them annoying.
2) It's considered polite to consolidate posts, and while not necessary, it's a good idea because not everybody knows everybody else's fandom, and it helps us get a handle when we encounter someone interesting we don't recognize.
1) It's polite to do if you're suddenly called away. However, it's annoying if you use it as a placeholder. For example, if you already know that you're going to bed in ten minutes, you should probably hold off on posting a question until you have some time to respond, rather than slapping up a post with the "will respond later" notation already on.
If you're worried that you might forget about the question, post it as a private post to the character's journal so that you'll have it written up for when you're ready to play.
1) It's considered polite--that way people aren't left wondering when they'll be getting an answer if they respond after you've already left for the night. No one is likely to kill you if you forget, but it does help to let everyone know the fun is over for a bit
( ... )
2b) I may be wrong, but I think Akira'mun here meant one intro post here on dmooc for multiple pups, which is actually fine if he/she is looking to bring them all onto the comm in the near future.
In the IC comm, sure give them all their own posts so you don't go crazy keeping track of who is talking to what, but here in the ooc I'd say lump 'em and we'll do a group hello.
This is my mod hat. Unfortunately, it's an invisible hat.mr_negotiatorApril 11 2007, 14:12:09 UTC
As was noted by others, tagging for "suddenly called away" or "people are responding to me and I have to go for an hour" are quite acceptable; we'd prefer you not post stating you are about to go to sleep, or in for abdominal surgery, or a five-day trip to Borneo, and you will respond later. The first one is a sign of respect - "I thank you for your interest; something has come up and I will respond at my earliest convenience".
There is no absolute need for introductions here; making your first appearance on D_M with a question, or with answering, is perfectly acceptable! We try not to harsh on the creative buzz, as you may have a moment of inspiration and not have to wait. However, if your character may have a significant impact on others (you generate a NexusLOL effect that turns people's hair into flowers, people tend to shout your name instead of just speaking it, et cetera), you probably should leave a note just so it's known. You probably should put that in your userinfo, as well.

Quick question. On the 'not posting stating you are about to go to sleep/doctor/Borneo' thing, does that just mean those incidents where people post knowing they've got to run in five minutes? If there's active threads going on and it's stupid a.m. after a whole lot of posting and the post being active for a few hours, that would be the time to say 'yeah, gotta crash'?

That's pretty much what I'm referring to, yes.
If you've got a great thread going, but you have to go to sleep for school, that's fine - we're all biological creatures (except the AIs), and most people will understand that. (If they don't, please send them to Borneo in your stead.*)
But starting one when you KNOW you're going to run/crash/the plane takes off in five minutes? That's a bit rude, in my opinion.
* the moderaters do not actually advocate kidnapping anyone to Borneo. This is an exaggeration for the purposes of humor.

(And did you get to see the first or second dub or the sub?)
Okay, thanks. :)
