OH. MY. GOD.

DAVID BOWIE'S COMING OUT WITH A NEW ALBUM ON MARCH 12TH. It's called The Next Day, and you can watch the music video for the track, "Where Are We Now?" right here. It sounds slightly Heathen-era to my ears, and he's doing that freaky face-projected-onto-a-balloon thing he did for Earthling. While he's looking his age, he sounds lovely and even ( Read more... )

UK fans are waking up and experiencing a collective pants-explosion. It's beautiful. I think I might have something in BOTH my eyes...

I KNOW!!!!!

I'm still asleep right? I'm dreaming right? I'd really given up all hope, just the best news ever.

Can't think straight. And those wet things in my eyes may be tears, but I can't tell as my brain appears to have stopped working.

Must remember to breathe.

I KNOW. When I saw the news on Twitter, I had to pick myself off the floor. Then I had to doublecheck to make sure it wasn't April 1st and then I thought if this is an elaborate prank, I am going to KILL SOMEONE.

All of that took about 1.5 seconds, and then... pure, unadulterated squee.

I didn't believe it either at first. I had to double check the web address, and not until I'd clicked on the itunes link really.

Just can't believe how quiet he kept it. It's like he was just waiting for us to REALLY want it, for the world to really miss him.

It really is amazing. One of the musicians involved (Earl Slick, for the people who keep track of Bowie's guitarists) said he'd known since last summer, but was under a gag order not to say anything. Even so, I can't believe the news didn't leak!

I know! I assumed that he'd just gone and retired without saying anything, because GOOD GOD BOWIE TEN YEARS OF NO ALBUMS and now THIS. If he tours, I have to go. HAVE TO.

(Also, someone may have to confiscate my capslock key, I'm too excited to restrain myself.)

Yeah, I'm sure it won't just be on itunes... waaaaay too many obsessed Bowie collectors will want this in every conceivable format under the sun. If there were an official release where the lyrics were written in cuneiform on a clay tablet, they'd buy one of those, too.
