Anyone Know the Post limit on LJ?

Sep 10, 2007 00:13

Okay, I was going to post a subject chapter tonight that I've done, but LJ's built-in rich text editor wouldn't let me.

It said the post was too large.

Before anyone gets too excited:

That post was going to be private because I want to unlock them all at the same time,  It might be something like 4 or 5 chapters because of the post limit problem I ran ( Read more... )

I wish I knew. My last chapter end up being posted in two parts because it got too long, and I'm irritable about changing the organization after I've decided something belongs in that section.

That is exactly what I'm going through...

I had decided where I wanted to break the chapters and that was too long for the first section. Then I looked and figured out another place that would work and that was too long too.

Hopefully the answers I got will help you.

It does, some. I mean, how do you know how long to make your posts if it's limited by size not by length?

I was looking for something that said: thy posts shalt not be over 25,000 characters long including spaces, or something to that effect.

Word doesn't measure sections in byte size but you can get counts for # of words, # of characters without spaces, # of characters with spaces, & # of pages. So I guess I will need to still do some guess work.

*sigh*

Thanks for the info.

I'm sure it did used to have the length in characters but it looks like they've changed it. I think it was something like 65,000 but I could be wrong

I probably am

Yeah, danceswithgary and ender both said it's 65k....

It's just hard to tell going from how Word counts.

danceswithgary said it's somewhere between 8,000 to 10,000 words, which is more helpful.

Thanks for your help.

The 65,000 character limit usually works out to between 8-10,000 words for me.

I had hoped for a more definitive answer than a 65k limit.

Word doesn't measure sections in byte size but you can get counts for # of words, # of characters without spaces, # of characters with spaces, & # of pages...

Oh, well.

I'll fool around with it... The range of word counts is more helpful than the size.

Oh, thanks... That's a great reference.

I'll add that to my favorites.
