Devik, great translation and a poem itself! Translating Vysotsky is very difficult becasue every word in his song/poem is important and you cant change it or throw it out. This song espscially, where you feel the rage, anger and desire to be free.

P.S. pike = outside loop (diving down them looping out up to horizontal flight). No

But what is it, what?! - I'm in outside loop
And I cannot pull up or get free!

Heh, thanks.

I see what you mean. It kind of messes up the rhythm of the stanza, though. I know I'm being somewhat loose with the translation, but I'm trying to make it so you can sing it to the original music.

Maybe:

"But what is it, what?! - in an outside loop
I cannot pull up or get gree!"

You are right. Your translation "I'm in a deep dive" fits much better into the poem and expalins what happens ("alight" and "dive" rhyme). "Outside loop" does not tell you much :)
