Well, no reply to yesterday's e-mails in which I insisted that my "authentic name" is Psyche, and the name on my ID bore no relationship to the one I'm known by.

Thought of a full name that actually appeals, though: Psyche Nocturnia. Y/N?

I've submitted a request for reinstatement using this method, but with the volume of deletions that might ( Read more... )

Sent you a .pdf with what appears in my 'Events' page. Of course there probably is a lot missing that would be of interest to you and vice-versa, but still, hope it's useful.

Thanks Flavio! This weekend is sorted; I tend to go one weekend at a time, after I discovered I was stressing myself out by committing to too many things. I think there's some sort of gig on Saturday the 22nd? At Slimes maybe? Or was it Luisa's birthday?

Don't think it'll be of interest for you - but next Sat it's Carter USM at Brixton.

If you change your name by deed poll do you then have to change it on every legal document (passport, driving licence, bank account etc)? If that's the case that sounds like a bit of a pain in the arse for the sake of a poxy social network site (having said that I'd hate it if they forced me to use my real surname there - well, I wouldn't do it, end of: real name is for work but at the same time I have no intention of risking work knowing what I get up to in my life). They forced Donia to change her name too - for the moment she changed it to her real first name and made up a last name that sounds real enough (like I did on FB) and seems to have got away with it. Perhaps once you're reinstated you can do that too?

No -- and thank goodness for that. The reason I haven't changed my name legally is because it's a major pain in the arse (I discovered when I got married), and now I'd have to go through that hassle in TWO countries, so no thank you.

When you change your name by deed poll, you then get a document showing your name change, and then you have to present that to the passport office, banks, etc. etc. If you don't, your name stays the same. So what I'd do, since I plan to keep my legal name for all official stuff, is just change it right back as soon as Facebook reinstates me with the changed name. Costs money; but I'd have been willing to pay Facebook money for some sort of "premium account" service they don't offer, so eh.

yeah, the pain in the arse is the reason I never seriously thought about doing it (although I wouldn't mind shedding that useless 'e' at the end of my first name - in its full form - that confuses the shit out of everyone apart from Italians as to my gender!). Interestingly enough though, from what you say in theory you could pick and choose WHICH documents to change your name on once you've got the deed pool document, couldn't you? Like for instance change it on the British documents but not on the American (or Italian in my case) or something like that... I suppose it wouldn't be strictly speaking legal, but how could they check? [ponders the practical advantages of having effectively two identities available for use ;) ]

Yeah, can you imagine where I might get stuck if my American passport name didn't match my British one?
