spent the past two days *very* engaged in the tarot, via attending the SF Bay Area Tarot Symposium. I'd never been before and had no idea what to expect, but the event always boasts an all-star lineup so I just couldn't resist ( Read more... )

I have two beautiful tarot decks I have been meaning to explore and develop a relationship with, one is based on the RWS, the other is it's own thing... Do you have an materials/hints/tips for learning that you would be willing to share?

starting with the RWS is always a good idea, since so many decks use it as a starting point, and the symbolism is extremely well thought-out ( ... )

You have a Hello Tarot? *jealous* I was too lazy to hop on that when they were made... I've regretted it ever since.

OMG, you mean *I* actually have something in my HK collection that *you* are jealous of?! wow.

anyway yes, I have the deck and actively read off it (some people just collect alt decks and don't use them). it gives GREAT readings. let me know if you want one, or if you just want to look through it that's cool too. I've always kicked myself for not getting a second one, in case anything should ever happen to the first. guess I'll just have to be careful.

BTW the gig-deck gives good readings too, even with no organizational system other than the suits and numbers (but no correspondences etc, and a bunch of random imagery).

Yeah, I'll have to think about getting a reading.

Yes, totally jealous!

I would LOVE to read for you! any time! I almost always bring Hello Tarot and the gig-deck to stuff like Twigs. (you *are* coming to Twigs, yes?)

also, I have heard that there is a colored version of the deck being sold on etsy... might be worth a look.

awesome! what fun! I totally hear you about the con thing. I loves me some con time too. I didn't make it to silicon tho my good friend H was the fan of honor or some such. Are y'all going to pantheacon this year? I know I'll see ya at FC. :)

I'm not sure about pantheacon. if they have enough tarot programming I might have to though! are you presenting?

and yes, you will absolutely see me at FC! I would love to hang out "IRL" sometime too. too bad we are such busy little bunnies....

they don't make much of a fuss about it... but it has been going on for years. it's kinda schpendy and they never publish their schedule so it took me a long time to get myself there. SO worthwhile though!
