i rented a 15 yard dumpster this week & i'm just about finished filling it. it feels great to get rid of all the detritus that has built up. (2 broken vacuum cleaners? really?) the place feels lighter (& larger) now that i'm almost done. worth every penny.
if you do get a dumpster let me know. the place we went to was here 12 hours after we called & about $100 cheaper than the next lowest place.
you want to have a place for putting stuff where people just, come by and get stuff? how many social networking sites are you on? you advertise that you have cool stuff that you no longer need and that it will be on your front porch on fetlife and facebook (to those near you) and they may well come. could be helpfull.
might get some freaks over if you are friended with any people you don't want to come over, I guess. I don't friend people I would mind coming over, but then, I'm a fairly scary guy...

I have thrown away or donated about half of my stuff when I moved recently. I will throw away a few more things.
