So i have sorted out my hardrive problem, it took 7 weeks! Maplin had sent it to there repair centre and it was lost in transit, then it was found but they couldnt fix it, the man in the shop kindly oiffered to take it out of the casing - which he did with care and precision - turns out to be and IDE drive so he hooked it up to a pc and confirmed

kind of, i actually use proper noise in my tracks so dont panic matey im keeping it real ;)

I have a couple of SATA HD's in my home PC. I run them hardware RAID 1. Means I loose half the disk capacity, but at least if one drive fails I've got some protection against it, and it beats backing up 200GBytes of assorted crap to DVD on a reular basis :)

Yeah i really should go SATA, seems like a better option

It's cheap enough to make it fairly feasible these days. After all, the most expensive and gut wrenching part of a computer to replace is data, not hardware, as I expect I little need to remind you.
