So my first-grade daughter complains that I play the guitar too much. Actually, she says that I play the guitar ALL THE TIME but that's just the way her brain works. Everything is always all or nothing. But in any case I understand that she feels ignored when I am playing and she misses me and would like more of my attention so I have made it a ( Read more... )

you should really consider doing that for the public. My son would have gone bonkers for that when he was smaller. Now he is ten. wait, I think he would still be excited about it...

That's a great idea. I was actually thinking about that. I've performed publicly many times and I love it but I'm usually with a group, I'm usually playing piano and I'm usually not singing. I've only performed as a solo singer-guitarist once and it was the most terrifying experience of my life. I have been working up the nerve to do it again ever since. Something like this I could do for a kindergarten class. I think I might find that a somewhat less intimidating audience. If that goes over well I might try it out on the ten-year-olds. Ten is a great age. My son is eleven and really getting to be pretty grown up. At least he's still winning to hang out with his daddy. I had him do the page turning for me today and he seemed to really enjoy the songs. Of course he's always been my biggest fan.
