It had taken the full five days of preparation to ready the apartment for a Christmas holiday party. He and Alice had searched the park for makeshift decorations, with a couple of, er, improvised solutions to certain shortages courtesy of Aziraphale. The front and roof of the apartment was decorated with gold Christmas lights, and a wreath hung on the door. Inside, the room was lit by the lights of a
Christmas tree decorated with Disney ornaments in the corner of the room, as well as the warm glow from the candles on the tables. The walls were decked with, not boughs of holly*, but
garlands of evergreen, ornaments, and ribbon. There was a sprig of mistletoe hanging in the doorway between the parlor and the patio overlooking Adventureland, and a dusty record was playing old fashioned Christmas carols on the gramophone.
The most effort, however, had been put into the food on a table out on the patio. There were two large turkeys, sprouts, roast potatoes, cranberry sauce, stuffing and gravy, a Yorkshire pudding and mince pies, and a large Christmas pudding. What was notable about the food was that no matter how many people arrived, it would still be sufficient to feed every guest. Also on the table were glasses filled with Aziraphale's homemade eggnog, both non-alcoholic on one side and with a sizeable portion of brandy and rum on the other. There were also wine glasses of Christmas punch, and a bowl of candy and Christmas cookies collected from all over the park.
With everything set up the evening of the party, all that was left was to wait for the guests to arrive.
