Virgil was concerned when Richie didn't come home one night, but brushed it off. But when Richie was gone for over a day, he started to become concerned. There wasn't much that was more suspicious or wrong in the park than Hot Streak, even if he was just standing around the lake, lazily throwing fireballs at the ducks and laughing a little to himself when the splashes caused by the balls made the ducks fly away.

In the past, Gear had mostly been able to handle Hot Streak, but not always. And there was no one with a vendetta against Gear (or even Richie, who wouldn't have a chance if not in costume) like Hot Streak.

Virgil flew until he was hovering just over the lake, and tossed a nova burst in Hot Streak's direction to get his attention, aiming for the ground right next to where Hot Streak was standing.

"Hot Streak," he said, in his very best don't-mess-with-me voice.

Hot Streak saw the nova burst about half a second before it hit the ground, and not knowing that it was supposed to hit the ground beside him and not him, he dived out of the way and ignited. "What?" he growled up at Static. "Is scaring the ducks illegal now?"

Virgil created another nova burst but kept it in his hand instead of throwing it. "It is if you read the announcements," he grinned, "But that's not why I'm here. Any guesses?"
