Semi-Open RP: Virgil and Hot Streak (Backdated to after Richie's disappearance)

Sep 05, 2007 16:33

Virgil was concerned when Richie didn't come home one night, but brushed it off. But when Richie was gone for over a day, he started to become concerned. He hadn't heard much about the disappearances, so that wasn't what he'd jumped to. Instead, he donned his uniform, and, frowning, went flying over the park looking out for anything suspicious or ( Read more... )

There wasn't much that was more suspicious or wrong in the park than Hot Streak, even if he was just standing around the lake, lazily throwing fireballs at the ducks and laughing a little to himself when the splashes caused by the balls made the ducks fly away.

In the past, Gear had mostly been able to handle Hot Streak, but not always. And there was no one with a vendetta against Gear (or even Richie, who wouldn't have a chance if not in costume) like Hot Streak.

Virgil flew until he was hovering just over the lake, and tossed a nova burst in Hot Streak's direction to get his attention, aiming for the ground right next to where Hot Streak was standing.

"Hot Streak," he said, in his very best don't-mess-with-me voice.

Hot Streak saw the nova burst about half a second before it hit the ground, and not knowing that it was supposed to hit the ground beside him and not him, he dived out of the way and ignited. "What?" he growled up at Static. "Is scaring the ducks illegal now?"

Virgil created another nova burst but kept it in his hand instead of throwing it. "It is if you read the announcements," he grinned, "But that's not why I'm here. Any guesses?"

"The announcements say not to harm the ducks," said Hot Streak. "I'm not hitting them." Nevermind the fact that he couldn't hit them.

Hot Streak had no idea what Static might have been getting at, but he wasn't going to admit as much. "Because you missed me?" he asked in a mocking sort of tone.

"Ooh, wrong," Virgil said, firing another blast of electricity. "Only two left, better think hard!"

"Couldn't be my smoking good looks, could it?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Hah," Virgil said humorlessly. "You're not even trying, are you?"

Hot Streak smirked. "Now, why would I try?" he asked, in a 'we both know what I did' tone of voice, even if he didn't know what he did. "You seem to know the answer, so why don't you enlighten me?" which was said in the tone of voice that said 'even if I don't need enlightening.'

"Maybe because I'm not in the mood for games!" Virgil shouted, powering up and expelling a blast of electricity around himself for a few feet.

The second Hot Streak saw Static powering up, he put up a shield. "We're in Disneyland!" Hot Streak called up to him. "I think you need to loosen up and play a few games."

"I'll loosen up when you tell me what you did to Gear!" he shouted, blasting electricity in Hot Streak's direction.

A wall of flame shot up around Hot Streak, and it managed to absorb most of Static's attack. "Dojiggy?" he said, sounding actually surprised. "He's not here, Static. I think the park's driving you loco."

"Then where is he?" Virgil growled. "He was here up until a few days ago, and it's not like he'd just disappear."

"I'm telling you, I didn't even know he had been here," snapped Hot Streak. "The only other guy from Dakota that I know who's here is Dick."

His eyes narrowed, and he furrowed his brow in concentration when Static said that it wasn't like he'd just up and disappear. The Cat guy who had once lived in Hot Streak's house had obviously disappeared, hadn't he? And though he had stopped by Wilbur's house a few times, he hadn't been able to find the kid at all. "Are you sure about that?" he asked.

"What does that even mean," asked Virgil, eyes narrowing. "Of course I'm sure. Is that some kind of threat? Cause today ain't the day."
