The New World was pretty good then? I was wondering how it would be. It looked promising but . . . I'm a little disillusioned with Hollywood's treatment of anything involving Pocahontas.

Ok, now that I am thinking about it I think Disney is pretty much entirely to blame for that.

I really, really, really want to see The New World. I am ashamed to say the only Malick I've seen is The Thin Red Line.

Paul Giamatti is not a great actor. I don't know where the hell this is coming from. He's a good actor I guess but I haven't seen any kind of greatness from him.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman, that is a great actor.

I am also still annoyed that Sideways got Best Picture. I haven't seen all of it and I have enjoyed the parts I've seen more than I wanted to but . . . what the hell was so great about it?! What?!

i was surprised to see that crash got nominated...i just saw it last night and thought, "this is the type of movie that regular people love and are like wow about, but it would never get nominated for an oscar." well, my bad! i thought it was very engrossing and oft-compelling, however didactic. i think a lot of people thought it was groundbreaking and thought-provoking, which it so wasn't to me.
