*note this tutorial is for those of you who know how to knit. two good resources are here and here

materials
1/4" manilla rope
1 1/4" - 1 1/2" "knitting needles" (a wooden dowl from home depot with a sharpened end or even pool cues would work)
2 large sturdy wooden ends

That's neat :) Although I suck at knitting with really big needles, they make me feel like I'm 2 years old.

That's pretty cool. I had been hoping for instuctions for the thready Mexican-styled hammocks, but hey, that'll work. :)

maybe if you used different colored rope and a smaler gage to make it look more like a mexican-style hammocks

Great idea! I think that's probably the closest I could get, anyway -- I think the mexican hammocks are loom woven.

Heh. Now I want to make hammocks, and I have no earthly reason to... :)
