Little sis

So my little sister, who initially thought cloth pads were absolutely disgusting, just told me she wanted some more night pads. She was absolutely repulsed at the idea when I first mentioned to her that I was switching to cloth pads... It is funny how once cloth pads are tried, no matter the initial uncertainty, it is hard to use anything else ( Read more... )

There just doesn't seem any point with other stuff. They're *comfy*. Plasticcy things are many things, but comfy they are not.

Oh, definitely. Many of the women in my family have fallen in love with cloth even though when I first mentioned it to them they were disgusted or freaked out by it. So I pass along a pad I've made and before you know it they want to make the full switch. Seriously, women who try it rarely go back, at least in my opinion.

I actually carry brand new pads in my purse when I go places, especially fabric shopping, because it somehow always comes up what my occupation is and that I run a cloth pad business. And then when I say I'm the owner of Vaj Pads, lol, the look on their faces is priceless. But then usually by the time the conversation is over they're pretty fascinated or actually place an order with me. It's awesome.

lol. i don't have the guts to blurt out "cloth menstrual pads" to the folks at the fabric stores yet. even though they *always* ask what i'm making.

I actually did once, and the fabric cutter was totally cool with it. She said something about pads going full circle, from cloth pads when she was young, too yucky disposables, and now back to cloth pads. I was shocked I didn't just get a funny look.

Exactly, why would anyone want to go back?

That is a good idea to carry a new one with you to show people. Maybe I will start doing that. I mentioned that I use cloth pads to the women that I babysit for last night, and they had already been considering it. Next week I am going to take some of the pads I made for my sister so they can see them.

I was pretty grossed out when I first heard about it, but I will never go back now and I've gotten my stepmom to make the switch for liners(that's all she needs).

I live in a big city and hate traffic so by the time I get to the fabric store I don't have the patience to deal with the looks, so I just say I'm stash building;)

Haha :D
I live in relatively small town. But the traffic is INSANE. There are many fast food places and a mall nearby. We frequently get a freak car accident. Just recently we had a BUILDING EXPLODE. A mechanic in his engine shop, is believed to have killed himself. Everyone felt the explosion and came outside at 12:00am o__o....

I've had many women ask me what I am doing with this fabric. They imply: "Makin' a blanket?" Me: "yes yes! *nods*"

I'm SOOO tired of the stupid, ignorant reactions I get. People seriously need to think a process through. I mean it's just cloth here, no biggie.

What kinda ticked me off recently was that Amanda of modernacorn, posted pictures of her beautiful pads on Flickr. Some user replies and claims that they are "unsanitary and gross." That just pisses me off =/

Disposables are NOT sanitary, Manufacturers aren't required by law to release the 'ingredients' they use in their pads.

That sucks about that mechanic.

I think that some people just need time and iformation to realize that cloth is no biggie

Yeah, the guy was under a lot of debt. So that's what they believe.

Time and info is what people really need as you said. I tore out pieces of paper and wrote "Cloth pads.org" Cloth Menstrual Pads" and stuck them between the metal tins.

I came back the next day and found them all gone o__o. Probably some janitor took them down =/ Ughhh.

Next time I'll use ADHESIVE. HAHAHA.
