It had been several weeks since Kazuma's last nightmare. Nadeko's presence at his side, even her presence just in the room had done something to calm the fears that only rose at night, and thankfully he had been getting enough sleep to battle the illness that had fallen on him with that help.

But this night, they returned, stronger and more vivid than ever. He felt the hands pushing him down, pinning him, holding him as he struggled and tried to break free. They were avatars, every single one of them. Possessed avatars under the will of Love Machine. One was on his head, holding him roughly by the hair, forcing his gaze up no matter how much he tried to look away. He was screaming, had been screaming, so much that his throat was raw, but for some reason no sound was coming out in the horrible twisted dream scape

Nadeko looked to him, at first giving him a weird look ... but she knew how much Kazma meant to him. So she nodded slowly, gently letting him go.

"Be careful," she whispered. She doubted that Kazma would hurt him intentionally, but there was no telling what would happen if he were still dreaming.

"Shizuka!" Watanuki yelled, waking up more fully and rushing to Doumeki's side. He pulled Doumeki up as much as he could. "Shizuka, Shizuka? Nadeko-chan...can you get me some ice?" He asked, looking over at her, and then to where Kazuma was trying to comfort his giant rabbit. "I'll keep an eye on Kazuma-kun for a moment."

King didn't change as he laid there. It was as if he was stuck between his dream and reality. It would take something to shock him out of it, but if the reaction would be good or bad...that was to be seen.

His back hurt like hell, and his throat was burning as much as his teary eyes, but Kazuma ignored them all to inch forward towards the rabbit. He reached out hesitantly, touching Kazma's furry arm gently at first.

"I'm here..." he said quietly, voice just barely above a whisper. "I'm here, Kazma..."

Slowly, he moved in closer, eventually wrapping his arms around the avatar, hugging him and burying his face in his chest as his tears started to fall.

"Wake up... wake up. Please wake up..." he continued chanting, pleading with him and hoping that his voice might eventually get through to him. "I-it can't hurt you here... I won't let it... just please... wake up..."

Nadeko heard Watanuki and nodded, cringing a little as she heard the tone of Kazuma's voice. She made a note to give him a huge hug when everything was ... somewhat back to normal. She got up and went to the kitchen to get some ice and put it into a pack, bringing it over to Watanuki and Doumeki and handing it over.

Once it had been handed over, she looked back over at Kazuma and Kazma worriedly.

"Thank you Nadeko-chan." He said, taking the ice pack and putting it behind Doumeki's head, which he'd maneuvered into his lap. He'd been watching Kazuma carefully, hoping that the rabbit wouldn't lash out again.

"Kazuma-kun...be careful, alright? It wouldn't do any good for you to be hurt."

The hug did bring the rabbit out of his frozen state. He slowly relaxed into the floor, his pupils widening but this eyes fogged over. He slowly lifts his head, looking down at Kazuma with glazed over eyes.

"P-Player?" He returned the hug, wrapping his arms around the teen. Player was here, how he didn't know. But...if Player was in Love Machine too. The rabbit keeps one arm tightly wrapped around Kazuma as he stood up straight, head whipping around, looking for Love Machine. He had to be here somewhere and he would protect Player from him.

Kazuma tensed when Kazma stood, taking heed of Watanuki's warning and getting ready to dart away should he start lashing out again. But the blows and swings never came, just Kazma looking around as if searching for something.

He was still dreaming.

That only made Kazuma cry harder, clinging tighter as the tears ran down his face and stained Kazma's white fur.

"Y-you're dreaming... it's not real! It's not here... it's just me a-and... Watanuki-sama and Nadeko-chan and Doumeki-san... please!" he begged, voice cracking sharply, "Please wake up, Kazma!"

At the wall, Doumeki let out a groan, eyes finally opening but unfocused.

Nadeko flinched at the sound of Kazuma's voice like that, sounding so desperate ... she stood, walking over toward her boyfriend and his rabbit avatar brought to life, wrapping her arms around both Kazuma and what she could of Kazma.

"Kazma-san, it's the truth ... it's just a nightmare. Please, please wake up ..."

Rubbing Doumeki's shoulder from behind, Watanuki said, "Shhh, don't move around yet, Shizuka."

Kazma's eyes narrowed at the noised coming from Doumeki and Watanuki. The hug from Nadeko also seemed to have an affect on him, his body stiffened considerably. He brought back his free arm and slammed a fist into the wall. His fist easily broke through the drywall, creating a rather large hole. He continues to stare at Doumeki and Watanuki, eyes blazing as tears still run down his face. He will show the avatars he can still fight. He will protect Player, no matter the cost.

Doumeki went to say something, but was silenced by the fist slamming in to the wall above his head. Kazuma let out a panicked scream, planting his feet as he tried to pull Kazma away from them.

Ignoring what Watanuki had just said, Doumeki sat up, moving himself in front of the other boy in case another hit was coming. He kept his mouth shut, giving Watanuki a look that said 'shut up, he can't hear us right now'.

"Stop, Kazma! No one is going to hurt us! WAKE UP! PLEASE!" the boy was screaming again, the same plea over and over again. He refused to loosen his grip any, though his arms and knees were starting to shake from the exertion of holding the much larger rabbit back.

Nadeko had to help keep Kazma from going any farther as well, doing something similar to Kazuma and planting her feet to the ground.

"Kazma-san, please, wake up!" She cried, trying to help wake him up in any way she can.

"Please, everything is all right, you can't be hurt!"

Watching all this, Watanuki couldn't help but think that Kazuma and Nadeko's actions weren't going to do any of them much good. If Kazma was still asleep now, it would take something rather drastic to wake him. He stood up very slowly, his eyes on Kazma, and the two teens trying to keep him from lashing out.

"Nadeko-chan, Kazuma-kun, he's just going to hurt you accidentally if you keep holding him back..." He said evenly.

They were not leaving, the avatars continued to stare at him. He would not allow them to hurt his Player. He released the teen and started walking towards Watanuki and Doumeki. Unfortunately for Nadeko, since she was in front of him, if she doesn't move soon he may simply bowl her over, given that his strength was far greater than the childrens'. He would destroy all of the avatars on OZ if he had to to keep Player safe.
