When Jinx had said 'light duty', she meant it. The second Duo had even tried helping with some of the heavier stuff, he'd gotten a look that could have killed him a few times over had it the power.

He was still required to be in uniform, of course, but with the cast on his leg going almost all the way up to his mid-thigh, he was stuck in one of those ridiculous shorts-and-blazer combos that was a gothed up version of a young boy's school uniform.

Normally he would have been irritated over the whole thing, but honestly? It had been a very lonely week and a half without Dani or Finn around. And for the first time in years, the often masked Shinigami was letting his true moroseness show.

Sitting behind the counter in the main section of the shop, he was listlessly thumbing through a paper back, barely attentive enough to notice that Maddie had entered.

"Dani's not here..." he grumbled, turning a page with his almost automatic response.

"I know. She's somewhere in Poyi mountains the last time I checked her D-comm location," Maddie said. At least to let him know she was fine somewhere. "I came to see you."

He hadn't been paying attention. When Dani didn't show up at the hospital after the whole thing, he figured she didn't want to be around him anyway.

But the second part caught him off guard, and he actually looked up at Maddie, eyes slightly wide in confusion.

"... yeah?"

"Yes," Maddie said, taking the seat across from him at the counter. "I wanted to...apologize. About how I've been acting."
