"The fact that you're here listening to it means you haven't," replied Vent. "So does a lot of things. But... seriously, you need to make a change. Even as far back as before you were sent back... you needed to make a change."
"I basically have to make amends to myself and get past this, right? What... I did in the past doesn't define my actions in the future. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I can live for a new reason, and that's to be the best mother-soldier-nearly wife I can here, right?" Sabine questioned with a smile.
Nodding her head, Sabine straightened up and she smiled at Vent. This time, however? The smile wasn't one that was masking her problems, no. It was a true one.
"And I do appreciate that a lot, sir. I'm sorry for going straight to the bottle."
"It's no trouble at all," laughed Vent, standing up and putting a hand on her shoulder. "Just take what I said to heart, alright? I need people like you at the top of your game..."
And suddenly Vent appeared, sitting down next to Sabine. He didn't order a drink, but he still sat at the bar.
"I won't mince words. What are you doing here again?"

"Do you think that I've screwed up at all?"

He shrugged a bit.
"In a way, you've had the answer all along. I'm just here to poke you in the right direction."

She raised her right hand, put it to her head and saluted him. It felt good to smile for real.
