Ever since her mother went home, Matilda had taken it upon herself to retreat into her shell by keeping herself occupied with her books and other things like that to get her mind focused on her studies.
She heard the door knocked and blinked. "Father, someone's at the door..." She said in a slight listless voice.
Greg had been doing better, though damned if his face didn't still hurt. But it was still taking both him and Haku (and the others, when they could) to take care of the kids. Matilda wasn't so much the problem as Alexis was. When he wasn't sulking, he was throwing things and generally showing his upset by lashing out. So far he hadn't screamed or yelled, and hadn't gone so far as hitting anyone yet, but Greg was beginning to question how much longer it would be before it started. He couldn't get through to him, try as he might

He didn't mean to stare, but he wasn't expecting some one like that to answer the door, and he was thoroughly convinced he had the wrong apartment. He'd heard mentions of Greg's girlfriend, but she was supposed to be gone. So whoever this was, it... shouldn't have been her, right? Even though she was, admittedly, kind of hot, she looked a little young to be Greg's type.
"Ohhh, she's pretty, Nicky..." Cassie said, eyes slightly wide. Nick moved his hand over her mouth to silence her, and tried to stumble through a question.
"Er... um... y-yeah, does... Greg Sanders live here?"
Matilda blinked from her book and she lifted her head up. She saw Nick in the doorway, and sure enough, she stood up on her legs and let a smile come across her features for the first time in days.
"Uncle Nick!" She said excitedly and ran up, passed by Haku and hugged his legs.
