The crime scene was something a bit too close to home for Mina - particularly with the incident with Mary Jane not only two months prior. And the fact it was a Tamer much younger?

It didn't help that it made her worry about her brother back home.

For the time being, Mina decided to stay in her normal form but allowed her partner to evolve into Meramon just in case. Upon hearing Natalia's call, she went to make her report.

"Mina here, captain! So far, it's quiet..." Mina said.

Yuka let out a sigh as she looked around, Tsukaimon resting on her head for a moment. This... well, this wasn't something either of them were really used to. Back home anyway she was never put on security detail...

But she was here now, and this was the mission that she was given.

"Nothing yet," Yuka answered to her captain's call, still not sure what to think of her really.

"I see," said Natalia, sighing. "Well, I want each of you to make a perimeter search... I'm masking positions on the D-Comm map. I want us each to head to the one nearest to us, until we've covered the entire perimeter. Understood?"

And she sent the program, three x's appearing on all of their D-Comm maps.

As she heard Natalia's orders, Mina nodded slightly. "Understood."

"What do you think we should do?" Meramon asked as Mina got the X-marker on her D-Comm map.

"Follow directions for the time being, you know that...!" Mina said, a bit annoyed that her partner asked that in the first place. Noting the closest one to her, Mina began heading in that direction, on guard.

"Damn," Tentomon said as she looked at the scene.

Dried blood had stained the grass and fallen leaves, but with the morning dew, some of it was dripping again. The soil had already absorbed the rest. While Tentomon gaped, Grissom realized his forensics kit and pulled on a pair of gloves.

"You know, Gil, working with you's made me see a lot of ugly stuff, but this is insane," Tentomon continued. "I'm shocked the kid survived this--it's like the Watson case all over again."

"I know," Grissom answered, reaching for a flashlight. "But with this one, we've got to worry about the contaminated crime scene. I'm sure Hana's rescuers were more worried about his wellbeing than preserving the evidence." And much as he respected the Doctor, he knew that the EMH would have been yelling at him about worrying more about the evidence than immediately administering medical attention. Grissom made a mental note to discuss emergency medicine and trying to preserve the crime scene in his next class.

Speed couldn't hide a wince as he and Terriermon arrived at the scene. Crime scenes where kids were involved were always the worst, in his mind. He supposed it was because of all the kids his mother had helped over the years. For a moment Speed wondered what had become of the boy H and the others were trying to find.

"Okay, you remember the rules right?" he asked his partner. Terriermon, riding on his Tamer's shoulder, nodded.

"If I see something that could be important, tell you and let you collect it. Otherwise, stay out of the crime scene and don't bug you while you're working."

"Good." Tim paused long enough for Terriermon to scramble off of his shoulders outside of the scene permiter, then realized his kit and pulled on a pair of gloves before joining Grissom.

Seeing the full extent of the scene, Speed let out a low whistle. "Damn," he muttered.

Pulling a swab from his kit, he crouched down and swabbed some of the days-old blood from the grass. He took a few more samples to be on the safe side. "Maybe we'll get lucky and the kid was able to give back some of what he got," Tim remarked.

Of course, that wouldn't make any difference if they didn't have anything to compare the DDNA they got from the blood to...

"Did anyone process the vic?" Speed asked Grissom, turning to look over his shoulder at him.
