As it so happened, Sayu was out doing the very same thing, as her mother's birthday was next week.
Thus, Palmon at her side, and completely oblivious as to the occupants of this facility, Sayu strode in, tapping her chin.
"You never had any difficulty picking presents out for her in the PAST," Palmon said.
"Yeah, but Mom wasn't only four or five years older than me THEN," she noted.
"Are you CERTAIN we shouldn't have brought Manami-dono along? I mean, I'm all for a break from Gabumon as much as the next fellow, but at least-"
Sayu puffed her cheeks, a bit aggravated. "I can pick out my own mother's birthday present, thank you!" she insisted, before marching purposefully into the store.
Sayu stopped cold. Palmon ended up running into her from behind.
"Sayu-dono? What--"
He, too, paused.
Betamon's assessment was about right.
Up until a few months ago, Sayu had thought Nariko was dead, and had died a traitor. Of course, such seemed to not be the case NOW, but...
Well, even if she had held multiple arguments discussions with her on the D-Comm, she hadn't yet SEEN her face-to-face.
To be truthful, she had been angry with Nariko. A lot angrier than she had any right to be, she was certain. In fact, she was pretty certain she was a damn hypocrite.
But something in her still refused to admit to anyone how much Nariko and Jiro's betrayal, and Nariko's apparent demise, had actually upset her.
Thus, as of right now, she just held up a finger and... pointed.

"What the hell is the hold up, Nari?!" shouted Betamon. "You look like you've seen a gho-"
He paused.
"Oh. Well, damn. I guess she's the one seeing a ghost."

Which... quickly became sheepish.
And then ashamed.
"... Hi, Sayu..."
